Who are we?

Hi, my name is Simon and I am the founder of Smiles Ahead Mobile DJ. 

My story starts in the 1990s when, as a keen club goer, I bought a pair of turntables and a mixer and I became the stereotypical 'bedroom DJ'. In my bedroom I was DJing in Ibiza in front of a crowd of thousands! Then life, work and career took over, the decks got put away and the DJ dream faded.

Fast forward to 2020. As the autumn began the nights grew longer. My wife suggested we put on a disco in our lounge as something to entertain our 2 daughters. Her idea was to put a few CDs in the machine (yes, CDs!) but I had a slightly bigger idea. I bought a simple DJ controller and a few lights and the Friday Night Disco began!

Eventually I decided to upgrade my speakers to something better. Here was the mistake that led me to becoming a mobile DJ. I bought a pair of speakers off eBay without realising they were full sized 1000W PA speakers! Now I had the speakers I needed somewhere I could play them! 

Over time I bought better lights and performed at my first ever event - my own 50th birthday party! I was hooked and a business was born. Since then I've learned an immense amount about the art and craft of DJing. Over time I've improved my set up to include state of the art sound and lighting.

As a dream that turned into a hobby and is now a business I am passionate about making sure every guest has a great time. I might not be DJing in Ibiza to a crowd of thousands but I treat every event I DJ at as though I am! Each event is planned to ensure the best time is had by all!
